Labs are not necessarily better service dogs. They are eager to please their human partners which makes them more suited to service. They are also natural retrievers as is the Golden Retriever and others, but that only plays a part when retrieving is a necessary skill. Other breeds are just as suited for jobs like hearing alert, seizure alert, mobility, etc.
