The gasses are compressed mainly so they can fit in a smaller space. If the gasses were not compressed it would be very inconvenient and costly to reserve the space for the quantities of gas needed.

Can all gases be compressed?

Yes, all gases can be compressed because gases are highly compressible compared to liquids and solids. When gases are subjected to pressure, they can be compressed into a smaller volume, increasing their density.
