Sometimes people update statuses and upload photos so often that it slows down the Notifications sometimes. This happens to me all the time; you shouldn't blame your friends for being on Facebook so often, so you have the option to stop their updates from appearing by going to their wall and click where it says "Friends". You then can choose that option.
Use Snaptu to get notifications. Notifications are not supported on the build in facebook app.
You can not delete your notifications.
You can opt out of Facebook email notifications by going to Account>Account Settings>Notifications and unchecking everything.
Unless someone with a Facebook account used your email address to set up their account, no, you cannot get Facebook notifications.

If you want your notifications for Facebook to continue regardless of the Facebook app status, enable the Facebook Notification Center. Settings->Notifications>Facebook
If you get notifications to your email even if the status is deleted on facebook, you can still see it on the email notifications.
The Facebook notifications on the iPhone will disappear after one clicks on them. This is the only way to get rid of them once they are delivered. To stop receiving notifications, one can log into Facebook and change the settings in "Mobile" under the "Settings" menu.
If you have the facebook app, you can disable notifications through its settings. If you're talking about the texts/emails that can be altered directly on your facebook accounts from the settings feature.
The new notifications should be added to your Facebook page soon. It's an update so just wait a little bit.
