Best Answer

Organisms are classified so that scientists can better organize and understand the relationships between groups of species. Classification is a highly effective way of determining unique qualities in a group of organisms so both their biological traits and evolutionary processes can be easily traced and studied.

Lets use an example. If you spot a leopard, you know it's a leopard and so you call it leopard. However, when you describe this to a foreign community, they will refer the leopard by a different term. This creates confusion and pretty soon, nobody knows what to call leopard. Then scientific community came up with dichotomous key to put animals into groups which gets more specific and more specific until you reach that certain type of animal that is different from all the rest. By doing this, they were able to scientifically name leopard Panthera pardus which can be used in foreign countries.
