The reason for a passport is to convince people to behave as if they are children who need to ask permission to travel. It also reinforces the concept of belonging to and owing allegiance to a government. Furthemore, it reinforces the notion that a nation state has a right to allow or disallow a human being access to a certain area of land. People have been travelling this planet for thousands of years just fine without passports. The modern system of passports was only conceived in the 1920s, and only standardised in 1980.

Avoid Lost Passports?

A big fear of international travelers is losing their passports. After all, your passport is necessary to travel, get back to your home country, and use as proof of identification. They are commonly stolen, either for the passport itself or because it is near to wallets or purses. Wearing a travel pack around your waist and under you shirt is a great way to keep important travel documents close to you at all times, and prevents lost passports.
