- Some people who obsess over people's ages are immature and inexperienced( or possibly they had a trauma with someone in that age bracket) as far as what each age group can offer another age group. Young people can get along very well with middle age to older people. Fear of the unknown or not wanting to get into the mind of people of all ages is close to being ignorant. Some people can look at the young as not being wise enough to be of any use to them (not true as the young can teach adults many things) or the young feel older people are not 'cool' or could possibly know what's in or out in the teens life at their age. Not true either! When the two mix it could be a great friendship. Age is simply a number and if you allow it to be an obsession then you will lose out on making many great friends. It this problem is ruling your life then you should see a psychologist to get to the root of the problem.
