Why are people racist-?

Generally, people are racist because they were raised to be. Ignorant hatred of cultures other than one's own tends to be passed along from parent to child. The root of racism is a lack of understanding and fear of those who are in some way different. Education, and the empathy it provides, seem to counteract the logic racism and stereotypes. Education can free someone from their racist thought patterns by eliminating delusions caused by ignorance.
some people are also xenaphobic which means they are scared of other races or religions. Hitler was xenaphobic, thats why he didnt like Jews (understatement of the century). but i dont know the origin of xenaphobia, i only heard that word on a Simpsons episode. They are only trying to be cool of mocking your religion/race, it's not funny/nice so stop it.

They either learned it growing up or they experienced many bad things coming from just one group of people.

It is easy to become racist if you've only met a few people of a particular group and they all mistreated you. The logical fallacy in that is that there are many more people of that group which you've never met who are nothing like that.

Not all people are racist - some are some aren't and some get along with everyone never noticing their race.Those that are racist usually get it from their parents, the people they hang with and want to be accepted by, their community or their religion.

As to the why - those who are not racist can offer no good reason - a persons appearance - short/tall, male/female, ancestry, religion. or race - make no difference the the person they are.
