Back in the years of the 1600's, 1700's, and 1800's, nobody had planes. Ships were the only way to move across water to another continent. In 1903, the Wright brothers created the Wright Flyer, the world's first airplane. From there, people built up on the brother's plane design and ideas. Forty years later, there were jet planes, huge B-17 bombers, and small, but fast fighters. Now technology is crazy in aviation. Planes help us go anywhere we want to in much less time than any sort of public transportation. Many people own private planes. The president has his own plane, a Boeing 747-400, one of the biggest planes in the world. If today the world still didn't have planes, it would be like not having a time machine in the year of 8000! Yes, planes are important, people.
