Planets are only know as Gas Giants if they fall into that group, Saturn , Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune are Gaseous Planets . This is purely because the basic make up of the Planet is from Gases, they have no solid surface and are large.
becuase the are just giant balls of gas
Adding on, the planets are called gas planets because, although having a solid core the planets are made of gases such as nitrogen, and helium, or at least most of the are.
Firstly, they are very much bigger than the inner planets, hence giants. Secondly, they are not made of solids and liquids like the earth, but are made of gases, such as hydrogen and helium. A third reason is difficult to find as those two are self-evident, but the fact that they have no solid surface might count.
they are composed mainly of gases and are quite larger than the inner planets
The outer planets are known as gas giants because all the planets outside of Mars (with the exception of the microplanet Pluto) are not solid, but rather made up of gas.
They are the largest planets in the solar system. Also they are gas planets. And since both gas and giant start with G the name has carried on.

In our Solar System, there a four gas planets. To be factually correct, there are only 2 gas planets - Jupiter and Saturn. and 2 ice planets - Uranus and Neptune. Combined, they a colloquially known as the Gas giants or Jovian planets.
Four. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
gas giants.
Rocky planets are denser than gas giants.
