The significance of the poppy as a lasting memorial symbol to the fallen was realised by the Canadian surgeon John McCrae in his poem In Flanders Fields .
The poppy came to represent the sacrifice made by his comrades and quickly became a lasting memorial to all those who died in World War One as well as subsequent wars .
In Flanders Field
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields .
you spelt remembrance day wrong.
Remembrance Day is so important because it's a day in each year, when weremember the soldiers that died for us in WW1 and WW2.
Many soldiers have given their lives for their country, and many have served valiantly, to defend their country, so it seems that the least that we can do for veterans is to remember them on one day a year. Why is remembrance day important? Remembrance day is important because we need to have a chance to remember the soldiers who fought for us. Canadians wear a poppy to show respect. Some things to do is to t…hank a veteran, visit a cenotaph, wear a poppy, attend a ceremony, observe a minute of silence, and to remember on social media. (MORE)
It is so special because ....That is the day we remember all the solders.Who died for us.
To honor those who gave their lives so you could be free.
It is not a time for remembrance in the sense that ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day are. Australia Day is a day when most Australians celebrate the first European settlement of their country, and migrants who have elected to take out citizenship do so. However, it is also a time when the traditional Australians, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders, probably do mourn white settlement, as it signified the beginning of the loss of their way of life.
poppys so fat when she stands on the scales her mobile number comes up
because the red remindes us of the soldiers that faught in ww1 & ww2
Some Catholic celebrates the day of the dead so as to honor them and it is sorta like a day of remembrance of loved ones who died.
Mary's feast day is January first because she was and is our greatest saint. She was the mother of jesus so they start every year in her honor and remembrance.
We shall all respect remembrance day and think about what life would have been if those soldiers never fought. They had fought for freedom if they had not fought in the battle you would not go to soccer games the world would just not be like the way it is right now, so you shoud be very happy.
People wear poppies for Remembrance Day because of a poem written by John McCrae (a Canadian military doctor in World War One) called "In Flanders Fields." Poppies bloom throughout Flanders, where some of the worst fighting of the war occurred--and the poppies grow all through the torn-up fields and in the cemetaries--and so they became a symbol of Remembrance Day.
