a metamorphic rock is many rock mixed in the heat of under ground lava and another word foe mix is morph and the name metamorphic rock comes from the word morph.

actually the word metamorphic comes from the word metamorphosis, which if you don't know means "complete change". it signifies that the rock becomes something completely different from what it was before.
