The roosters job is to mate with and protect the hens from harm. Roosters are the first defense when a predator attacks and he will put himself in harms way to give the hens time to take shelter and escape an attack. Without the rooster all the eggs will be non fertile and therefore produce no new birds for next season.
There really isn't any difference until the birds begin to reach sexual maturity. For broilers there is is no difference, but larger breeds the roosters are just a little tougher. On out farm the hens go in a coop and the boys roam free range till five months then 4 weeks in a fattening coop where they get all the fresh water and feed they can eat, with little room to burn off calories. Then it is off to the freezer they go. Hit me up for a great grilled rooster recipe.
Because roosters generaly make hens feel safer, and if attacked the rooster will fight the intruder, not let it kill the hens. The rooster will also break up any serious fights that occur. However, the may mount your hens causing them to loose their feathers. To stop this, get a rooster smaller than your hens. Some roosters are mean and make it hard for your o collect eggs, so be careful.
This information was based on my own beloved Mr.Rooster, so some roosters will be different.
Roosters have several jobs within a flock of chickens. The rooster is the protector of the hens and will sacrifice himself giving the hens time to escape a predator. The rooster will also fight off smaller predators. A house cat will case a hen but few cats will risk a fight with a rooster. The rooster also mates with the hens to produce fertilized eggs and renew the species.
They're not. They're just different. No hens, no eggs. No roosters, no baby chicks.
You don't have to. Some people prefer to eat fertilized eggs, but if the rooster is mean it can hurt the chickens, so the choice is yours.

Chicken coops can be for sale in the form of a house. Most chicken cooks look like small houses because it is most convenient for them to be built in that fashion.

You can't they only allow one. There is currently no way of getting 2 chicken coops. A few days ago (first week of Jan I think) there was a software glitch in Farmville which allowed one to get 2 coops with barn-raising. In the future, there are plans for chicken-coop-raising (expanding the capacity of the chicken coop).
Chicken coops are not generally expensive. They range from one hundred to one thousand depending on your needs. They are made of wood and wires so not very fancy.
When Jarvis raised Rhode Island Red chickens, his chicken coops were heavily populated.
If the dingoes find the chicken/roosters, then yes.
