Ochre has been used as a marker to indicate which sheep have been worked or need to be culled from a flock. I use a type of spray paint to do the same thing. There are also large crayons for doing this. You could also put ochre on the chest of a ram and he will leave a mark on the ewes that he breeds so you can tell which have been bred.

merino sheep are marked or mulsed to prevent fly strike from wrinkle on there behind, then antiseptic spray an a local anesthetic is placed on the marked area. then if the sheep is a male he will be casterated with a rubber ring to prevent unwanted breeding. with cross-breds they just have there tails removed an males will also be casterated
