Chicken eggs are the white or sometimes brown eggs you find in the grocery store neatly packaged in egg cartons. If you want farm-fresh eggs, you can check your local farmer's market, local butcher shop or see if anyone is advertising the eggs.
We just wash the poop part off, fresh eggs are better when not cleaned. The "bloom" on the shell protects the egg and keeps them fresher, longer.
Most rural farms with a sign "fresh eggs" will be selling fertilized eggs. Small farms almost always keep a rooster in the flock. You can check with any local feed & grain distributor and they will know who in the area sells fresh eggs.
Eggs that you buy from the store will not stay fresh for long without refrigeration. Eggs that come right from the chicken can kept at room temperature for weeks. Store bought eggs should be refrigerated within a few hours of buying them just to be safe.
Chicken eggs do freeze in the shell. Freezing will cause the egg to expand and crack open. Frozen eggs in the shell change consistency and will not cook, taste or have the same texture as a fresh egg. Special preparation before freezing will render the eggs useable when they need to be frozen.
Yes, but it has an increased risk of Salmonella I think a lot of people, well most people would vomit just from putting it in their mouth. Go ahead and try it if you really want to though.
Of course it is safe for you to eat them but on most farms it is not safe for the chicken. Eggs are a good source of protein and most hens like eggs. Eggs get accidentally broken in the nest and will get eaten by the hens but Cannibalistic hens are usually not welcome on a chicken farm as they can eat into the supply of eggs fairly quickly. Most farms will ignore the occasional broken egg being consumed by a flock of hens but any chicken that starts to break and eat eggs is usually invited to Sunday supper.
there just as fresh as white eggs
