∙ 12y agoI suppose that if we were to get technical about the word then symbols represent something visible that by association or convention represents something else that is invisible. The symbol of the cross reminds us of the death of Christ. The Sacrament is symbolic of His death and resurrection. As explained symbols are to remind us of something that is not present, yet exists or has existed.
