symbols are important in religion as they help steer people in the right direction for their religion.

also it reminds people that many people died protecting their religion e.g. christ died on the cross- so when a christian sees a cross they will remember christ and others dying for their religion.

also for example Sikhs had to fight had to protect their religion and there was many blood shed over this. when Sikhs see a symbol referring to their religion e.g. a khanda or a kara they will remember those who fought to protect the religion.

They help to create a sense of identity and community among followers, and can serve as a focal point for worship and meditation. Symbols can also evoke powerful emotions and connect individuals to spiritual concepts beyond words.
