There are to main reasons why gas giants are unsuitable for life. 1. the atmosphere of most gas giants are toxic to most forms of life 2. the gas giants are giant and so have gravity ten or even hundreds of time stronger than Earth and so life is under extreme pressure and would be squashed by the gravity

There is nothing to say that there aren't other planets able to sustain life in the Universe.

But if your talking about planets in our Solar System, it's mainly because Earth is the only planet in whats called the Goldilocks Zone. The Goldilocks Zone is a region from the Sun where it is possible for a planet to sustain life, if a planet is too close to the Sun, like Venus, it heats up to much and boils. If it is too far away from the sun, like Uranus, it becomes way to cold and it freezes.

Technically no, because you can fall through a gas giant. There is no water or food
