Most Christian dead were buried in church cemeteries. Some were buried in family cemeteries. Jews and Muslims tended to have their own cemeteries.
This is an extremely common occurrence in California. The tombstones soak up water from the sprinklers or rain and then it evaporates at night. This is due to a combination of heat sources, including necrosol, which is the soil surrounding coffins because decay = heat. I'm only commenting because the top answer is an OPINION that couldn't be further from the truth. I hope that person educated themselves a bit in the past 14 years.
Good Fences Make Good Neighbors- Robert Frost
No they're not because there are people that are protecting graveyards. In reallife, there are people who are taking special of cemeteries to keep graveyards safe to enter. These people work everyday so that graveyards are not scary. Graveyards are real but safe so you can come and visit your love ones that are not around anymore and honor the that people you love.

Each of the missions had a cemetery for the dead people
There are many famous cemeteries in Ireland and many small ones. It is common for people to visit Ireland to explore them as one part of their search of their Irish ancestry.
No one particular place. A lot of the casualties from Gettysburg are buried there and national cemeteries were established at many other battle sites. Of course, those who survived and went home are buried in little church yard cemeteries all over the country.
Some cemeteries are maintained by individual churches and synagogues. Some are maintained by federations of congregations or by multi-congregation entities such as Catholic dioceses. Some are maintained by local government. There are municipal cemeteries and township cemeteries, for example. Some are maintained by individual families, particularly in rural areas. Some fraternal societies such as the Masons and the Odd Fellows maintain cemeteries. And, of course, there are state and national cemeteries. Those are frequently reserved for people who have performed distinguished service for their states and nations, and some are reserved for military burials.
Well, honey, the answer to that riddle is death. It's the one thing we all have in common - no escaping it, no dodging it. So, enjoy the ride while it lasts, darling.
Taphofile That's the name for people who love funerals and graves and cemeteries.
No, not in reallife. Graveyards are real but they're not haunted and they're not even that scary. Just calm down and don't be afraid. You'll be fine, even if graveyards are real. There are no such things as ghosts, vampires, werewolves and zombies in reallife cemeteries. Reallife graveyards have people that are protecting cemeteries and keeping nice and clean and make sure that graveyards are safe to enter. You'll be okay even you have to enter the graveyard because there are people protecting and making sure that things are safe.
