Salton Sea is located in Southern California.
The Gulf of California is actually the "Sea of Cortés". The Gulf of Mexico is a sea. The Gulf of Alaska is a sea. The Gulf of Maine is a sea. Chesapeak Bay is a sea. I could go on and on.
Further, The Great Salt Lake in Utah could easily be called a Sea, as the Dead Sea and Caspian Sea are both in fact saline lakes.
So the short answer is the, in the US, we simply don't like to call anything a sea.
The Bering, Beaufort, and the Chukchi are the seas that border the US.
Alaska
The US is surrounded by the following oceans. The Pacific and the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.

No, there are seas in between.Unless you include an airbus.
