Well, first of all humans are a destrutave speicies and destroy the forests in wich orangutans live. And natives to South america that live around these amazing guys find that killing them to take the resourses of an endangered speices is not selfish

Since orangutans live, eat, and sleep in the trees, they can only live there because they have adapted to living there. When forestry becomes a major part of an economy and trees are cut down, or when farming space needs to be cleared, orangutans are often living in those trees. Without homes, mothers, or even just falling from the trees when they are cut, many orangutans died. Luckily, there are some sanctuaries around the world, but they need all the help they can get to protect this species.
