Well in the 1970s to 1980s leopards fur coat was in the fashion. They were paoched illeagaly. Also farmers took up their land a cut down their habitat for cattle. The leopards had to eat something, so they ate the cattle which means that the farmers would shoot the leopards.
There are a lot of leopards, but, we are not certain of how many of them are there. For example: there are approx. 23,664 leopards in South Africa. So they say.

The Amur leopard is critically endangered, with 30 or so left in the wild. Threats to leopards are poaching, and habitat loss.
