Before Harley motors were rubbermounted and counterbalanced, all Big Twins had two separate gas tanks. Evo Softails are the last of the "real" Harleys, that's why they have two gas fills.
Unlike newer softails where the transmission drain plug is located between the two softail shocks underneath the tranny, the older EVO softail transmission (1993 FXSTS) drain plug is located on the right side of the transmission. Look below the chrome transmission cover and you will see a small #30 torx drain plug centered in between two Allen mounting bolts. It drains out to the side not the bottom. You will likely have to remove the exhaust pipes, or at least the rear pipe top get easy access.
The softail has a swing arm with a shock system. Other models have two shocks mounted outside on pins.
