There is a lower size limit to a cell because a cell has to be able to fit all of the cell parts in. There is an upper cell size limit because if the cell was too big, it would lose its cell membrane integrity.
That's my question too! It has something to do with the cell membrane and other stuff like that..
Cell size are limited by metabolic requirements and surface area to volume issues. When the volume is large the surface area is small the cell needs more nutrient to feed its bigger volume.
Because the Tesoro said so. And that's the bottom line, cuz the TESORO said so.

The maximum size of a cell is limited by its need for enough surface area in order to conduct exchanges with its environment. This is referred to as contact inhibition.
About the size of a baketball maybe a little smaller
The size and genetic material of the molecule.
Insects are small due to the way they breath and they do not have oxygenated blood. Also when the oxygen is low, it limits the size of an insect.
There would be some environmentally induced changes, but whales and mice are both eukaryotes. mammals and have approximately the same sized somatic cells. Whales just have a lot more cells.
The size to mass ratio
cell size is limiteb by the ratio of the suface area to volume as the cell becomes longer this rate decreases at some size a cells suface area will become too small for materials to enter the cell quickly enough to meet the cells need
The cell membrane is the answer! Thanks for asking!
The surface area-to-volume ratio of the cell.
The surface area-to-volume ratio of the cell.

there are no limits because a cell is as small as it can be already or it can grow bigger
volume and surface area
As they lack a vascular system ( and therefore no true roots either) any water and nutrients must be passed from cell to cell by diffusion - a slow and inefficient method which limits their size. But aren't they beautiful under a microscope
Prey size and availability.
Telomeres
the cell wall is similar to the city limits because cell wall and city limits allow things out and in. it's also like a "security guard"
