∙ 9y agoUnits are a necessary part of a measurement because otherwise the number is effectively meaningless. If I tell you that I am travelling to your house and that I'm 10 away from you, what would that mean? Ten seconds? Ten minutes? Ten hours? It wouldn't even have to be a measure of time! I could be ten inches or ten miles away. Units are vital to communicating the meaning of the number in a measurement.
