Saint in the Old Testament means clean, free from defilement of crimes, idolatry and other unclean things. In the New Testament it means holy, set apart for God. The New Testament refers to believers in Christ as saints. They have been made clean by Christ's payment of their sins, and have been set apart by and for God, for the furtherance of the gospel.
