What would be selected if organisms did not have differences that lead to better survival and reproduction, or the opposite. That is all natural selection is.
Certain variations are more likely to be passed on to future generations than others, because those variations help their possessors reproduce more successfully. Other variations are less likely to be passed on because they do not help, or even hinder their possessors in successful reproduction. We say that the helpful variations are selected by the very nature of things. Without variation, whether an organism reproduces successfully or not is just a matter of blind chance. There is no natural tendency for certain individuals to be more successful at reproducing than others, because there are no differences between individuals.
its like natural selection, its what chooses what adaptations are needed by the organisms in order for them to suit the environment
Darwin's mechanism for evolution was natural selection through gradual change in the genome in response to factors pressuring from the environment. Geological gradualism, the thought that large changes are an accumulation of smaller changes over time and uniformitarianism, the idea that geologic processes have remained constant over many many years, gave Darwin a geologic time frame in which his mechanism of natural selection could operate. The small genetic variations and mutations that accumulated in an organism to shape the drastic changes leading to the differentiation of new species needed constant environmental pressures over a long period of time. Gradualism and uniformitarianism allowed for both of these criteria and so influenced Darwin's theory of evolution by means of natural selection.
It does not mater what anyone thinks about the theory of evolution by natural selection. The theory of evolution by natural selection is the best explanation we have for much of the observed and observable fact of evolution. The theory is internally consistent with the fact of evolution, it is supported by myriad lines of converging evidence and it generates testable predictions in the form of scientific hypothesis. The opinion of no one is needed by the theory of evolution by natural selection and educated people have come to accept the theory.
With time, if an organ or structure is no longer needed, natural selection may reduce the size of the organ until it completely disappears from the species or is very reduced in size. It is suggested that some vestigial organs may remain in a reduced state because they have a minor function within the body.
They aren't needed they are a natural occurance. With variations of tides and reproduction based on them.
All kinds of species. After all, all species that doexist are the result, primarely, of natural selection.+++That includes us! We were originally an African primate but slowly diffused to many other parts of the world where we needed different approaches to exposure to solar radiation: hence our several different strains (races). One effect only fairly recently know is that different races have different susceptibilities to certain illnesses - again a matter of natural selection although one hard to understand.
Neither artificial or natural selection. Chocolates, even variant chocolates, do not fit the criteria needed for either type of selection. No fidelity or fecundity.

Natural selection is part of the theory of evolution. The answer is transmission of acquired characteristics. Characteristics acquired but which are not genetic are not transmitted. For example, just because a person is a muscle builder, that doesn't mean his children will be really strong. Hope I helped!!
Since natural selection also means the survival of the fittest, those organisms that produce antibiotics (against life) had a weapon to keep other organisms from taking their space that they needed to grow and reproduce.

Without variation natural selection would have nothing to select from that would confer survivability and reproductive success. on the organisms being selected against the organisms conspecifics and the immediate environment. Mutation and sexual recombination provide the main sources of this variation that is needed to make selection work. Mutation is the variation presented that causes the real adaptive change that can lead to speciation.
