Hopefully, it's because you have a passion for the field, and recognize the benefit it will bring to others as well as yourself. That you have a propensity to work within a team approach to health care that helps individuals dealing with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
For me, and my nursing school, our nursing school is the same thing as the nursing program...the program is the curriculum...the actual classes that we take...and the school is just another name. For example I applied to the Presbyterian School of Nursing at Queens University of Charlotte, in Charlotte, NC and when I got in they said "Welcome to our nursing program." Its the same thing.
Go to your local University and enroll for a 4-year RN. You will be applying for their nursing program. Following your graduation, licensing, and probation you can then specialize in Pediatric Nursing. It is a long process; those NICU nurses are at the top of the game.
Cameron University's nursing program is in cooperation with the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, so you may want to look into what people think about that program.

In a good nursing program you want a school that will put you through tough, but effective classes. You also want a nursing program that will put you through clinicals for good practice.
Overall Aurora accepts approximately 70% of those who apply. Because of the number of individuals applying for nursing today, I would imagine there will be keen competition for entrance into the nursing program. Still, this does not mean you cannot gain admissions. If you have a real passion for the field and pursuing it for the right reasons, then go for it. Start taking the prerequisite coursework. Once you start with the anatomy and physiology, chemistry etc. you will begin to understand whether this is for you. The nursing program is intensive, and this is one reason I indicated that you must have a passion for the field.
Getting into a Nursing program does not depend on your high school diploma alone. If you fail to get into a nursing program then it does not mean that your school diploma is fake, may be you don't have required GPA, or may be the nursing school doesn't like your essay, there could be a number of reasons. Improve your overall admission application and you will get into a nursing program.
Chamberlain College of Nursing is a great online nursing program that also allows you to get hands-on experience at a local site. Also, the University of Phoenix has a good online nursing program.
