A large part of what is perceived as the taste of foods is really due to the sense of smell. Often a cold plugs up the nose, so you lose your sense of smell and thus that part of the taste of foods.

It depends how your sick but it should smell the same if you don't have a blocked nose. It would most likely change it taste.

You're nose can get clogged with mucus, and smell is directly correlated with taste. If your nose is not clogged, but you cannot smell or taste, go to a doctor... Now
