Best Answer

In a plant cell, the large central vacuole takes in the water and gives the turgor pressure in plant which allows it to stand up. The animal cells do not have this large central vacuole, and it is unable to maintain all the water and give the turgor pressure.

Why don't animal cell need chloroplasts?

Animal cells are not capable of photosynthesis hence these cells lack chloroplasts. We can also put it this way, that since animal cells lack chloroplasts, these are not capable of photosynthesis.

What is the ploidy of animal cells that are capable of meiosis?

Ploidy refers to the number of sets of chromosomes in an organism. The ploidy of animal cells that are capable of meiosis is diploid.

One plant cell that is not in a animal cell?

plant cells arent in animal cells the difference is that a plant cell has a cell wall and a larger vacoule

What is it called when animal cells burst?

When animal cells burst it's called lysis.

Why is turgor pressure not a characteristic of animal cells?

Animal cells do not have cell walls (as in the case of plant cells). When they absorb too much water, they will not build up turgor pressure but lyse (burst). This is because there is no cell wall to oppose water from entering the animal cell.

What type of organisms are capable of cellular respiration?

Any cells that have mitochondria in them. This includes fungi, animal, and plant.

In body cells the number of gametes are?

gametes are sperm and egg cells. they arent in cells.

Why are animal cells more likely to burst than plant cells when placed in distillers water?

Unlike animal cells, plant cells are unable to control the compostiton of fluid around their cell. Plant cells are normally permanetly bathed in almost pure water, which is constantly absorbed from the plants roots. Water entering a plant cell by osmosis causes the protoplast to swell and press on the cell wall. Because the cell wall is capable of only very limited expansion, a pressure builds up on it that resists the entry of further water. However animal cells do not have this ability and let constant water in, causing it to burst.

Why don't plant cells burst if a lot of water diffuse into them?

The plant's cell wall is tough enough to withstand the pressure that animal cells cannot

Why are animal cells are not capable of carrying out photosynthesis?

Chloroplasts are the organelles plant cells use for photosynthesis. Animal cells do not contain chloroplasts.Animal cells are not capable of carrying out photosynthesis because of the lack of energy from the sun. Our cells do not have chloroplast which is needed to contribute to photosynthesis. To contribute to photosynthesis you need chloroplast to pull energy from the sun. Animals have mitochondria in the cell which plants also have, but instead of it collecting the energy from the chloroplast the mitochondria collects energy from the food we consume. Fact is, we have a food chain which is needed for energy for animals. Without the chloroplast and chlorophyll, we have no means of photosynthesis.
