This decision was the most unwise of all because napolean did not have that power. He did not have enough men. Russia reached to the "scorched earth policy" napolean should of knew that he was doomed from that point on.
He would have probably conquered Russia but, he instead decided to invade during winter
which was hell for his soldiers and heaven for the Russians. He lost most of his army to Typhus and Dysentery then to casualties by the Russians. Additionally, his retreat tacit made him prone to Russian guerrilla attacks.
