Best Answer

Jet fuel is actually very similar to Diesel fuel as they both are kerosene based. However Jet fuel is better refined in order to have as little water in it as possible.

Which fuel using aeroplane?

There are many types of fuels used for aircraft. there are aircraft that run on normal unleaded and diesel fuels but the typical aviation only fuels are avgas (usually leaded 100 octane or 130/110), Avtur (aviation turbine), Jet-A and Jet A-1. these are the typical fuels you will find. Avgas is mainly used in general aviation whilst most airliners/jets use jet-a1.

Why is aviation fuel only used in aircraft?

Aviation fuel is a specialized type of petroleum-based fuel used to power aircraft. It is generally of a higher quality than fuels used in less critical applications, such as heating or road transport, and often contains additives to reduce the risk of icing or explosion due to high temperatures, among other properties.

What is the fuel used in jet planes?

Aviation fuel, similar to kerosene. Only smaller aircraft with piston engines use a fuel similar to gasoline, called AVGas (Aviation gasoline) Military Jets use fuels specially designed for Jet Propulsion, these formula are known by JP-#, Commercial Jets use Jet-A.

What kind of technology is used to power a jet car?

What kind of fuel do jets burn?

Jet fuel is a type of aviation-fueldesigned for use in aircraftpowered by gas-turbine. It is clear to straw-colored in appearance. The most commonly used fuels for commercial aviation are Jet A and Jet A-1 which are produced to a standardized international specification. The only other jet fuel commonly used in civilian turbine-engine powered aviation is Jet B which is used for its enhanced cold-weather performance.Jet fuel is a mixture of a large number of different hydrocarbons. The range of their sizes (molecular weights or carbon numbers) is restricted by the requirements for the product, for example, the freezing point or smoke point. Kerosene-type jet fuel (including Jet A and Jet A-1) has a carbon number distribution between about 8 and 16 carbon numbers; wide-cut or naphtha-type jet fuel (including Jet B), between about 5 and 15 carbon numbers.jet-fuelRead more: jet-fuel

What fuel do airplanes use?

Piston-engined airplanes run on avgas, which is very similar to automotive gasoline, but higher octane. Avgas is also often still leaded, although this is scheduled to be phased out in 2009. Some piston-engine aircraft are capable of running on automotive gas, but it is usually reccommended that avgas be used whenever possible.Turbine-engined airplanes like jets, turboprops and many helicopters run on jet fuel. Jet fuel is very similar to kerosene or diesel fuel, but is highly filtered and usually contains additives to prevent formation of water-ice crystals in the fuel system.Jet fuel is a type of aviation fuel designed for use in aircraft powered by gas-turbine engines. Why do turbine engines use fuel to cool the oil in preference to air?

Because there would only be enough airflow to cool the engine while the aircraft was flying. When the airplane was on the ground before or after takeoff there would not be enough airflow to cool the engine properly.
