Did the big bang occur? Yes. About 13.7 billion years ago, according to the very precise results from the COBE & WMAP satellites.

The evidence for the big bang is abundant, ranging from the expansion of the universe discovered by Hubble (& Einstein) to the cosmic background radiation (CBR) discovered by Bell Laboratory scientists in 1967.

Since then, much other evidence has been gathered to corroborate the fact the big bang did occur. It seems confusing that the Big Bang could have happened even though there was no matter or energy in the universe. But really, scientists speculate that there could have been a time before matter, energy, and time itself even existed. The "Big Bang" is a term that describes the event that created the universe. It goes like this: There was no time, no energy, and no matter. basicly, NOTHING existed. Then, a tiny volume of space, smaller then the head of a pin, suddenly expanded and grew to an enormous size. As the volume of space expanded, it created all the energy and matter in the universe. It created nebulas and galaxies of stars and planets. (and many other things, of coarse.) This is when time began to flow. There is plenty of evidence to support that this theory is true. The big bang would have been such a huge event that the waves of energy it created are still traveling in space today! People have actually detected these waves with a device called a spectroscope. Not only this, but scientist think that the universe is still expanding. basicly, the Big Bang is still happening today. We know this because astronomers have noticed that the galaxies of our universe are all moving away from eachother. They are all moving away from the centre of the universe, where the big bang started. The universe is still getting bigger to this day.

Yes, there probably was. The Big Bang is currently assumed by physicists to have occurred several billion years ago. It is based on mathematical modeling, observations of the universe, and other pieces of data. One of the primary observations that led to the Big Bang theory is the fact that the universe is expanding. It takes little imagination to "rewind" that expansion to a point where everything was "in one place" for all of what we see to begin. Secondly, there is cosmic background radiation everywhere, and this is the "remaining energy" of the "blast" that was the Big Bang. In the same manner that a cannon shell explodes and leaves a cloud of smoke remaining, that microwave background radiation is some of the "leftover energy" of the Big Bang.

WHY was there a big bang is an even harder question to answer then "What was there before the big bang". Nobody knows the answer to that question. The Question isn't "why" the big bang it's did it even happen?,is it scientifically possible according to the basic laws of Phisics? One of the Laws of Physics;Conservation of Angular Momentum

e.g.If an object is spinning clockwise and bits fly off it they will also spin Clockwise as they fly off.

Try it at home!; get some Friends on a merry go round get some Strong guy to spin your Friends round clockwise and when they fly off, they will fly off spinning clockwise never anti Clockwise .Try it.

Anyway according to the big bang theory all the matter and planets came from the big bang.all the matter and planets should be spinning the same way off it-true?

How come Venus spins backward?

How come some moons spin backward than their planets?

How come whole galaxys spin backwards???????

If it all came of the big bang then why isn't it all spining in the same direction? The Big bang is against the laws of phisics it couldn't of happened at all.

At this point in our understanding of our Universe, it is impossible to say. Since we have no idea why there was the Big Bang that resulted in our being here, we have even less idea on whether there will -- or even can -- be another one. If we wait another trillion years, we might have a better idea on the ultimate fate of our Universe.

Why was the Big Bang neither big nor did it bang?

According to the believes of physics and the big bang, we know that the big bang was both big and a bang. Since we are still receiving radiation from the big bang, So considering that factor I would say that it was big and a bang. What do you believe?
