Blood is always red, this is because it contains a pigment called haemoglobin, which allows it to carry oxygen around the body. As the blood gives its oxygen to various organs in the body, it turns from bright red to a darker red.

For this reason, arteries contain bright red blood, and veins contain dark red blood.

The blood changes color through out the body because of the oxygen that flows through the body.
