Goods you buy from your neighbours can be used to top-up your fuel supply. The higher the level good you buy, the more fuel you will get in return. Level 1 goods give you enough fuel for around 30 plots, and each level increase will give you fuel for an extra five plots.
Put simply, buying goods from friends is a way to buy fuel for coins rather than farmville cash. Buying goods will also earn you achievement ribbons.
Buying goods also helps your neighbours improve their recipes which helps them expand the size of their crafting buildings and allows them to make you higher level goods that will give you larger amounts of fuel for coins in the future. It also helps your neighbours earn more coins.

To get animals on Farmville, you either buy them from the market with your Farmville dollars (which are received by leveling up or buy purchasing them) or with your Farmville coins (which are received by harvesting crops, trees, or animals, or by helping friends or won in the daily raffle). You can also get rare Farmville animals by adopting them when they wonder on to a neighbors farm.
Ask your Farmville 2 friends or neighbors.
Any of your Farmville neighbors can do it. Put the word out that you need one of your neighbors to visit your farm to chase off the foxes.
Add neighbors and ask them to send you mystery boxes. You can't buy or sell them.
