Because no matter what doctors or professionals say, tequila is totally an upper. Christmas Day I drank 4 Margaritas and I had the most sleepless night ever in my life. A few days later, I did this Responsible Service of Alcohol course and this experienced bartender that was our instructor said that of all alcohols, tequila and something else (I forgot what exactly), is an upper, unlike every other drink.
