Why can't Santa Claus get people American girl dolls?

Santa Claus is sometimes difficult to understand. We don't always know the reasons for what Santa does or doesn't do. Sometimes, what we think would be the very best toy to receive isn't what we get---but we get some very nice toys instead and sometimes even very fantastic toys too!

When I was younger, I wanted a certain doll too but I didn't get one---and I didn't understand why! I had been "good", I cleaned my room, did all my homework, took the dog for walks---so why didn't Santa give me what I wanted! My grandmother explained to me that Santa is about having a giving heart. When Santa sees that a child really cares about people and has a giving heart, Santa shares what is in our hearts. So perhaps a boy that had no toy truck at all got the truck another boy really wanted, because Santa saw that the boy that had trucks would have shared--if he knew where the other little boy lived. And the doll I thought I really wanted, well, it went to a little girl who never had any doll to play with before! That is so nice of Santa, to help all of us to give to other people. We may not know the other girl or boy...but it really made me feel great that the special doll I asked Santa about went to a little girl who had no dolls or toys. I ended up being a "secret Santa" that year!
