Your hard drive may be too full to save any items at all. Make sure there is room.
Plus, make sure that there is enough room on the desktop for an icon. A cluttered desktop will not allow you to save items to it.

By default they are saved to the desktop.
You can type in the name of the saved item in the Start Screen, right-click on your item and select 'Open File Location' will take you to where the file is located. You can also open up your 'This PC' and browse through your folders. It is helpful to save your items in a folder on your desktop if you are having trouble navigating/finding your saved items.
No, you cannot bring a desktop computer as a carry-on item on a plane. It must be checked in as luggage.
You can. As long as the computer can read the picture file with paint, it will work. Just right click on a blank spot on the desktop, then "Properties". Click on the "Desktop" Tab, then click "Browse". Find your picture, and click ok, then apply/ok. Also, you could go to the picture, right-clik it, then select set as desktop background. i want a picture on set as desktop background
where is saved mail on 9.7b?
Answer: True - yes the document which you save on the desktop is saved on the hard drive. Unless you're saving the document on an external hard drive, USB, or CD, it would be saved on the hard drive. (wow!)
Yes, you can.
Recycle Bin. This should be shown on the Desktop.
You may want to try this. Right click your mouse anywhere on your desktop. Select "Arrange Icons by" and then make sure that the option to "Show Desktop Icons" is checked. If not check it and they should come back. I don't know WHY Microsoft put this option in their OS but it's there and can cause some problems.
