How come you cant go in the pool when your on your period?

Well you can. All you have to do is use a tampon instead of a pad. At my high school, it's mandatory that we do 10 consecutive days of swimming, which will take like a month. I've never used/bought tampons before. I'm a little scared they will hurt.
