Why can't knuckles tails and shadow be playable like sonic in brawl I mean there are 6 Mario characters playable in brawl and there is only 1 playable sonic character so why can't they be playable?

The developers of the game do not own those Intellectual Properties, so they may not have been allowed to use those characters. Also, the developers are limited by time and budget, so they may not have been included due to lack of funds and time.

∙ 15y agoThe Super Smash Brothers game is created by Nintendo which, last time I checked, created Mario and all of the game's characters. There would be no point in creating a game by Nintendo with many Sega characters. If Sega created a game like that, then many Sonic characters and maybe only Mario would be in it.
The answer is simple, really, Sega only allowed one playable character, and one assist trophy and of course stickers and collectable trophies. They did want Knuckles or Tails in the game but because they were only allowed one character, they had to choose Sonic.
