Probably because you dont have the needed requirements to play spore. Sorry.
I had the same problem and I was missing a graphics card.

How do you save in spore heroes?
You press start and press "beam up and save" on the touch screen. It will then beam you up to your rocket and your creature will step out of the teleporter. Then, it will save the game and let you get on with your business in the rocket. Note: If you hit start while in a battle or while talking, the "beam up and save" option will not be there.

If you already have a saved game, you cant unless you delete it, to delete it go to where it says: "Press Start" and simultaneously press the Up, Select and B buttons.

if you have allready beaten spore, "galactic adition" you can start enywhere you like. but if its your fist time playing, (or you just got a new computer or re-installed it) you have to start at the cell stahe and make your way up.

you must win cell phase then its unlocked and if it doesnt your game is glitching

Spore creepy and cute in a spinoff from Spore. All you have to do is buy it and upload it to your computer and you get lots more parts and skin colours for the game. But you have to have at least Spore or the full version of Spore creature creator for it to work.
