Because both of those mechanisms take place in physical material stuff,
of which there isn't any between the sun and the Earth.
Since radiation is done by electromagnetic waves, it can travel through space. i.e no matter is required. That way you can heat up objects through space. Or, for example, the earth gets heated by the suns electromagnetic waves.
Of the three types of heat transfer; Conduction, Convection and Radiation - only radiation (or electromagnetic radiation) is received directly from the sun by earth (though it may get converted once it arrives at Earth). This is due to space being a Vacuum, so convection and conduction don't carry the suns energy. Addition: The sun transfers gravitational energy E = -meGMs/r, to the earth.

Electromagnetic radiation. Light is the best known form of electromagnetic radiation, but the Sun puts out radiation across a wide spectrum of frequencies, from all the down where AM radio is, up through X-rays. Any radiation that gets absorbed (even a little bit) heats up the earth. There is some radiation (infrared) that we can perceive directly with our skin, but others (microwaves and light are two examples) can be absorbed by something, and then re-radiated as heat (or the things that absorbed the radiation get hotter and they heat things around them up by conduction.) But it all starts with some kind of radiation emitted by the sun being absorbed by something here on earth.
Yes. Here's a logical proof: There are three ways to transfer energy from place to place: --Conduction, --Convection, --Radiation. Conduction and convection need a 'medium' ... a substance to conduct or convect through. Radiation doesn't need anything to travel through. There is no medium ... no substance ... in the space between the sun and the earth, but heat and light from the sun reach the earth constantly. Since there is no medium for it to travel through, it can't be getting here by means of conduction or convection. The only possibility is radiation.
because there is no medium, conduction and convection need medium to spread through, they cannot spread through vacuum.

they all come and are connected from the sun, they process it through the suns energy.
the answer is conduction
convection zone.
Waves of heat and light, called radiation, travel to earth.
The process of the troposphere is that the lower layer (which is this one) is heated by the sun that the heat comes from the upper layers. Also the troposphere is the atmosphere we live in the weather in other words. Which is 0-10km.
