We can; that is the definition of translucent.
Translucent means light can go through it. Translucent colored things are things you can "see through." So translucent green is a green thing you can see through, that light can go through, such as, for instance, a green tinted piece of glass.
no you cant see through itEdit (Wolf5370): Erm, the definition of opaque is that you can't see through it! So, yes a CD is mostly opaque (though the edges where ther film does nor reach is usually transparent - see through).
Things you can some what see through. i.e stained glass, colored liquid, wax paper, ect.

Translucent windows allow some light to pass through but obscure the view, providing privacy while still allowing natural light in. Transparent windows allow light to pass through and provide a clear view of the outside, offering no privacy.

because of an Opaque opque: describes an object that is not transparent or translucent By: Becca Dehart
a mirror is translucent even though it looks transparent.
There are three levels of being able to see things through a solid liquid or gas. Opaque means you can't se through i at all. transparent means that you can see through it clearly and translucent means that light passes through but not clear images (like a foggy day) . A translucent color is a colour one which allows light to pass though, or even the underlying cloud, but no distinct image of the surface the colour is on.
