No reason. you can as a mater of fact I know someone that put a large above ground pool almost totally in the ground he left about 150 mm/6niches sticking out of the ground. dug the hole big enough to set it up, filled it with water, then back filled the edge around the pool with a 10 to 1 sand cement mix. reckons after more then 15 years he had to replace the liner but the rest of the pool was still in great shape.

Chicago is an extensive area that includes many suburban regions. To locate a company in your area, use this website: http://chicago.homeconnections.com/tasklocal.Swimming-Pool-Above-Ground-Build-or-Install.Chicago.Illinois.2102680.html You can detail a little bit about your needs and locations, and then get estimates from contractors in that area.

The Above-Ground Pool: An Affordable Solution to Beating Summer’s Heat?

With summer quickly approaching, it is once again time to contemplate how to keep the family entertained, while maximizing your time outdoors in the heat of day. If you’ve kicked around the idea of building a pool but the cost has deterred you, you might want to consider installing an above-ground pool in your yard. The above-ground pool is not only an inexpensive alternative to a built-in or in-ground pool, but in most cases, it can be set up, filled and ready to enjoy in just a couple of days, making it the perfect choice for some families. Above-ground pools come in all shapes and sizes and depending on your family’s needs. They can cost anywhere from just under a thousand dollars for a small, standard pool to a few thousand dollars for a large, deluxe pool. In most cases, the price of the pool includes everything you need, including the pump, filter and liner. Unlike in-ground pools, you have the option of either hiring someone to set your pool up for you, or, if you have a couple of friends or family members to help, you can easily set the pool up yourself. Complete instructions and, in most cases, a free how-to video are included with your pool package. All you need is some level land, a load of sand, and a couple of people willing to spend a few hours laying out and erecting the pool from the ground up. Today’s pool manufacturers offer a wider variety of styles and color schemes to choose from than in years past. While some homeowners may opt for the traditional blue color scheme, there are many others on the market, such as earth tones and wood-grain. Above-ground pools are sturdy and can be partially sunken into the ground to give it a more in-ground look. In addition, a deck constructed around the outer edge of the pool can give the appearance of a fully submerged pool. While this option requires a bit more work, including some excavation, if you have the manpower and the capability, it can be accomplished and the end result is a beautiful addition to your back yard.

What are the advantages of an above ground pool?

The list of advantages are endless! First, and foremost, the price. Above ground pools are much more affordable at a fraction of the price then ingrounds. They are much cheaper because no digging is involved just a little ground preperation. Second, they offer a bit more safety because they are more elevated. Although supervision of children is crucial regardless of what pool you have! Third they are very easy to put up maintaind and put down.

How far must dirt be away from above ground pool?

Dirt holds moisture or water, the walls of an above ground pool are thin, yes you can put dirt around the walls, however the trade off is going to be you will shorten the length of life of the pool walls because they will rust away, so you are the one that needs to decide what you want to do, you can put plastic between the walls and the dirt or sand that will give you some extra time before the walls and frame rust away. Just a reminder from me the bottom of all most all above ground pools have dirt or sand around the bottom of the frames and a little bit of dirt on the walls you should get 5 years or a little more before the frame weakens or the side or a wall blows out. your warranty should disclose this information, or call a pool dealer in your area.

How do you keep desert frogs from getting in your swimming pool?

Have you tried a nylon mesh stretched above the surface of the pool It would take a bit of setting up but should work. Have a look at pool safety nets for inspiration. I will put in a link to one of them

If you put an above ground pool in the ground what about rust maintenance and the pressure on the walls from the dirt?

Yes you can. Installation as follows: Steel mesh brace (galvanised), steel plates (galvanised), split hose for the top of the steel mesh. Pop rivet steel plates together. Cloth ducktape over pop rivits will give a smooth finish. My pool lasted 10 years, required a new liner and still the mesh was in tact. The steel plating required little bit of treatment, but not severe.

Why does it seem that there is a pool of water on the highway when its really hot?

The air at the surface above a highway is much hotter and less dense than the air above it. Therefore it reflects light from the sun a bit differently than the air above it giving the appearance of water.

What base do you use under a vinyl pool?

For Aboveground pools, typically you would use clean sand (no stones) or you can buy some pool specific ground covers, some are foam, some more like a foil. For Ingorund applications you could do any of the above, sand used to be used a fair bit but I wouldn't recommend it. In our opinion inground pools should have a proper concrete/grout bottom. It protects the line from things in the ground and will not shift causing the bottom to move and possible the liner to fail.

When a bullet leaves a gun the bullet has what type of energy?

The bullet has a great deal of kinetic energy, because of its high speed. It also has a little bit of potential energy relative to the ground, because of its height above the ground.

Can lighting cause a crack in a swimming pool?

Before you can drain a swimming pool there will be things that you need to know. Not all swimming pools are the same when it comes time to drain them. You have many different types of swimming pools. The most common types of swimming pools are Above Ground Swimming Pools with 48″ and 52″ Steel or Aluminum Walls, In ground Vinyl Liner Pools, In Ground Gunite Pools, Commercial Cement Swimming Pools and off course Portable and plastic Kiddie swimming pools like the ones you fill up and empty daily. Now that you know what types of swimming pools there are we can tell you what types of tools and pumps are required to drain these pools. The first thing you will want to find out is if the pool you are trying to drain has a bottom or "main drain". You will find a main drain in most in ground residential swimming pools, commercial swimming pools and sometimes in above ground pools. If the swimming pool has a main drain you can use that to pump down the pool. If the pool you are trying to empty does not have a main drain, you can use a submersible pump, pool pump, or trash pump to drain the swimming pool. If the swimming pool you are trying to empty is an above ground pool you could use a hose and create a siphon to drain down the pool. The siphon method will only work with above ground pools. You can also a winter swimming pool cover pump to drain down the pool as well. In many cases the winter cover pump will be a good-sized submersible pump to drain the pool. The only draw back to using the winter cover pump rather then a larger pump like the trash pump is that emptying the pool might take a bit longer. The Trash pump is one of the fastest methods to drain a swimming pool. You can rent a trash pump from most rental stores for around $89.00 for the day. The trash pump works with usually 3″ inch or above suction and discharge hoses which allows the pump to empty many gallons of water at a time from the swimming pool. In Some Other Cases there may be an external vacuum pump that is used to clean the swimming pool. If there is a swimming pool vacuum pump, you could connect the vacuum pole and vacuum head and then use a discharge hose and pump the pool down with this pump as well. Just think of it as doing a swimming pool power vacuum without reading the pool water. Before Draining The In Ground Pool : Draining an in ground swimming pool might sound like an easy thing buy in fact there are a few things you should know before doing so. In ground swimming pools have vinyl liners are constructed using something called "pool walls". These swimming pool walls can be made up of a few different things depending on the pools age. Pool walls can be made from wood, steel and cement. Wood wall swimming pools are no longer made in the United States. These types of walls had a major flaw in them, which caused many swimming pools to collapse when drained. The next type of material a swimming pool wall can be made from is steel. The steel wall in ground pool is a popular choice by many when buying or installing a pool. The third type of material a swimming pool wall can be made from is cement. Cement wall in ground swimming pools are very popular and are known to hold up for many years. Some say that the cement wall pool is the best way to build an in ground vinyl swimming pool. Well, now that someone has told us of the various ways pools are constructed and how to drain them, let's actually answer the question. I am assuming this question is aimed at inground gunite or shotcrete pools. I have drained thousands of these pools to resurface and remodel them and have NEVER had the structure crack because it was empty. I have seen pools that lifted out of the ground because a high water table turned the pool into a boat but these were always drained by the homeowner and not a professional pool contractor. Leaving a pool empty for even a few days may crack and ruin the plaster as pool surfaces are meant to be immersed in water. Leaving a pool empty longer than 3 days usually voids a plaster warranty. If you need to drain a pool to change the water or do some type of repair that requires emptying the pool, try to do so in cooler weather before the rainy season starts and make sure whoever is doing the repair does so rapidly so the pool may be refilled as soon as possible. If you are resurfacing the pool the only thing to worry about are unexpected heavy rains in which case a good remodeling contractor will drill holes in the deep end to relieve hydrostatic pressure. A good pool excavator will inform the builder if the pool is built on a water table so he can install a hydrostatic relief valve in the main drain area of the pool...however ASSUME NOTHING and take the proper precautions if the pool is in the lowest part of the surrounding area.
