There are hundreds if not thousands of bacteria, viruses and parasites that can cause shark illnesses. Wounds can also invite infections. Sharks mainly seem resilient in the area of cancer. However, in general illnesses, they can certainly get sick.

When sharks first came into evolution, there was a chemical in the water that they lived in. When they soaked it up into their gills, it mutated their white blood cell count to keep them super duper healthy! Now, this mutation is passed down through generations, and is stored in their genes, that is why they are not prone to disaese.
Why do you think that a shark can't get sick. They could get sick just as easily as you or me.

Ive never heard of a misc shark, but the largest shark that is living is the whale shark then the basking shark. However, the megalodon is the largest shark to have ever lived (up to 65 ft) but it is extinct now.
