* If someone does something nice for you or helped you in any way then you should acknowledge with a 'thank you' for the time they took to help you out. It's a matter of respect and good etiquette.

Also information you may have been looking for and someone gives it to you. Rule of thumb ... when someone does anything nice for you 'thank you' is a must! This includes people who work in stores! Although it's their job to give service a 'thank you' encourages them to keep up the good work.
There are many reasons people do not say thank you. It could be that they simply were not taught manners. They may actually not be appreciative, so they don't feel a need to say thank you. Maybe they forgot to say thank you. If someone never says thank you, it is probably because they are not appreciative or they just were not taught manners.
