Why can parents be mean?

Because they are required by law to maintain conditions that will seem 'mean' to an unthinking child. Being 'friends' can put them in jail. They are your parents. They are not your friends, and never will. That's why you are not born to a big group of friends. Either it is stress or they are not in the mood. Or they are just mean hateful parents. If you have difficulties you should talk to them.Just know they could be jerks. It's not that they're trying to be mean; they love and care about you and sometimes, that means doing strange things and sounding strange. They really love you.
