semi-permanat colours will not lighten hair due to them being a dye not a bleach. but when using a permanant colour , your hair can be lightend some, depending on which volume of devloper you use, 10(deposit only no lift) 20(lifts 2-5 shades then deposits) 30(lifts 4-8 shades then deposits) but for safety and healthness to your hair i wouldnt recommend using over a 20 devloper.
