Radio waves are a type of electromagnetic radiation similar to visible light. If there were 2 light sources with different color light you would not have any problem seeing both colors. It is the same with radio waves on different wavelengths.

What does it mean whe it says that a radio station has 102 megahertz?

That number is the 'frequency' of the radio waves transmitted by that station ...the number of times the wave wiggles in one second. "102 megahertz" means102 million every second.Right now, in your room and in the air around you, there are thousands of radiosignals from AM and FM broadcast stations, police cars, taxis, ambulances, cellphones, airplanes calling the air-traffic controllers, TV stations on the groundand TV satellites in space, GPS satellites, and RADARs watching for rainstorms. The only way your radio is able to pick out the one you want to hear and discardall the others is to separate them according to their frequencies. If there arefour radio transmitters all close enough to you and all on the same frequency, then your radio can't separate them, and you hear them all at the same time. That's why there are never two TV stations in the same city on the same channel,or two radio stations on the same number.

Is remote control the same as radio control?

Not usually, remote control may be via wires, hydraulic, radio waves or smoke signals, Radio control refers specificaly to items controlled by radio.

Amplitude modulation applications?

In olden days all radio stations followed only amplitude modulation to propagate the signals. Presently still some of the radio stations follow the same and mostly have switched over to frequency modulation. Especailly in tv transmission the picture signal is propagated only by amplitude modulation.

Does the far side of the Moon receive signals from a greater area of the sky than the near side?

The far side of the moon would receive the same signals with the exception of Earth originating signals. The radio equipment would not be subject to interference from the Earth signals on the far side so space originating signals would be easier to study.

How does the weather information from satellites get back to earth?

In very much the same way as it gets to your radio, your TV, or your smartphone ... by radio signals.

Why does every radio station have a different carrier frequency?

That's not exactly true. Any frequency you choose has several radio stations on it,but just not in the same city.Frequency is what your radio uses to separate the individual stations. If two stationsin the same city transmitted on the same frequency, your radio couldn't separate them. When you tuned to that frequency, you'd hear both of them at the same time, and youcouldn't understand either one.Listen to the 27 MHz 'Citizen's Band' some time.

Is Ham radio and amateur radio is same?

Yes Ham Radio and Amateur Radio are same. Amateur and Ham radio operators use two-way radio stations from their homes, cars, boats and outdoors to make hundreds of friends around town and around the world. They communicate with each other using voice, computers, and Morse code. Some hams bounce their signals off the upper regions of the atmosphere, so they can talk with hams on the other side of the world. Other hams use satellites. Many use hand-held radios that fit in their pockets.
