This is what i found out when i was doing some homework on rainbows: When you are looking at a rainbow, the sun is behind you and the rain will be in front of you. If the sun was in front of you then the rainbow would be behind (if it was raining). A rainbow looks like its asemicircle because when the light goes throught the water it bends twice, which means the light is going at different angles when it shines through the raindrops. A rainbow is actually circular because when the raindrop bends the light, the light leaves at an angle causing the light to move into a circle. The faintness of the rainbow relies on where the sun is. If the sun is low in the sky, the rainbow is faint.
