Because sunlight is still reflecting off the moon. If the moon were to pass into the Earth's shadow that would be a lunar eclipse and it would turn red because even then the red light from the sun is bent by the Earth's gravity giving the moon it's color for the eclipse.
Light from the sun is reflected off the moon making it visible in the dark.

Because the bright and dark sides are caused by what direction the sun is shining on the moon. We see the sun from a different angle and so see it as have light and dark sides.

Why can you not see the dark half of the moon?

You often CAN see the "dark side of the Moon". It's easiest to do around the first quarter Moon or a day or two before that. The Sun shining on the Moon causes the Moon to reflect light, and we call this "moonlight". But if you were on the Moon and looking at the Earth, you could see the Earth by reflected sunlight, which we would call "earthlight". When we look at the first quarter Moon, we can often see the dark side of the Moon illuminated very slightly by reflected earthlight!
